About the Artist

Hello, here's a little about me!

I've recently enjoyed illustrating several award-winning children's picture books alongside my fine art practice. In my illustrations I aim to capture essential character and humour. In my practice of painting and drawing I look for the inner rhythm of a subject and try to evoke it's underlying expression through line and colour. This can range from figurative to semi-abstract work.

The natural world is a strong source of inspiration, though I am drawn by a wide range of subjects and have been commissioned for many portraits of pets and people. I am also inspired by literature and a sense of place.

I have two BA (hons) degrees - the first in Design/illustration, and the second in  Humanities with English Literature, along with teaching experience and qualifications. I currently work part time in higher education.

'To see the world in a grain of sand, and heaven in a wild flower.

To hold infinity in the palm of your hand, And eternity in an hour'

William Blake
